The Story Behind Saroj Jain: Our Bangalore Boutique Journey
Updated: June 2026 | Written by: Saroj Jain Styling Team
Saroj Jain did not start in a boardroom with a business plan. It started with a simple frustration: why is good quality ethnic wear so hard to find in Bangalore at a fair price? Why do you have to choose between mall brands that all look the same and expensive boutiques that charge triple for average quality? That question led us to start something different.

Quick Answer: Saroj Jain is a women-led ethnic wear brand founded in Bangalore. We work directly with artisans across India to bring you We offer sarees, lehengas, salwar suits, party gowns, bridal dresses, blouse stitching, and customized designer wear, alongside hand-embroidered chikankari from Lucknow, handwoven chanderi from Madhya Pradesh, and handcrafted pieces at honest prices. Our JP Nagar boutique opened to give Bangalore women a place to find quality ethnic wear without the markup.
The Problem We Saw
Indian ethnic wear in Bangalore had a gap. On one side were mall brands churning out machine-made pieces in synthetic fabrics. The quality was average, the designs were repetitive, and the prices kept going up. On the other side were high-end designer boutiques charging Rs. 15,000 for a kurta set that cost a fraction of that to make. There was nothing in the middle: good quality, fair prices, and designs that actually worked for real women.
We also noticed that women were tired of shopping. Tired of pushy salespeople. Tired of not finding their size. Tired of paying too much for too little. There had to be a better way.
The Idea
What if we cut out the middlemen and worked directly with artisans? What if we designed for real bodies instead of sample-size mannequins? What if we priced things honestly and let the quality speak for itself? That was the idea behind Saroj Jain.
We started by reaching out to chikankari artisans in Lucknow. We wanted to understand their craft, their costs, and their challenges. We learned that these families had been doing hand embroidery for generations, but the brands they worked for took most of the profits. We offered a direct partnership. They focus on the embroidery. We handle the design, the marketing, and the sales. The result is better quality for our customers and fair wages for the artisans.
The First Collection
Our first collection was small. A few chikankari co-ord sets, some chanderi kurta sets, and a handful of sarees. We tested them with friends and family first. The feedback was immediate and consistent: "Why is this only Rs. 2,490? This feels like it should cost twice as much." That told us we were on the right track. We were not underpricing. We were pricing correctly. Every other brand was overcharging.
The JP Nagar Boutique
Opening our JP Nagar boutique was the next step. We wanted a space that reflected our philosophy: calm, welcoming, no pressure. A place where women could take their time, feel the fabrics, ask questions, and make decisions without being rushed. The boutique opened quietly. No grand launch, no influencers, no balloons. Just a small sign and a rack of quality clothes. Customers found us anyway.
How We Work With Artisans
Today we work with artisan communities across India: chikankari embroiderers in Lucknow, chanderi weavers in Madhya Pradesh, bandhej and leheriya craftspeople in Rajasthan, and shibori dyers in Gujarat. We visit them regularly, understand their craft, and pay them fairly. Every piece in our store has a direct line to the hands that made it.

What We Believe
Quality over quantity. We would rather sell one well-made kurta that lasts for years than ten cheap ones that fall apart. Every piece we stock is made from natural, quality fabrics.
Honesty over hype. Our prices are transparent. Our fabrics are as described. Our team will tell you if something does not work. We do not believe in marketing tricks.
Women first. We are a women-led brand designing for women. We understand what it is like to shop for a wedding, to dress for the office, to find something that fits and flatters. Everything we do starts from that understanding.
Community over competition. We support other small businesses, recommend other boutiques when we cannot help a customer, and believe that a rising tide lifts all boats. Bangalore is big enough for everyone to succeed.
Our Promise to You
When you buy from Saroj Jain, you are buying from a brand that cares. About the quality of your outfit. About the artisans who made it. About the price you pay. About your experience in our store.
